My lovely friend arrived today. OMG was the airport teeming with folk running away from the winter and varieties of influenza. It was so good to see her afer many months. Isn't it good to have that sort of friendship?

Most of my co-workers love Winter more than Summer. I'm sort of the odd duck here, but it's okay. I can figure out how to enjoy the first six weeks of winter, but after that I become more and more deranged, until Spring comes. Then, I become deranged, but in a happy sort of way.

I believe it is a natural reaction to the lack of bright light and the onset of cold weather, to want to stay indoors and sleep longer. It just affects some people more than others. I can honestly say I am better in the sunshine - I think I turn into a grizzly bear if I have to face a long cold winter.

Just to rub it in, I've been on the beach all afternoon. My friend swam in the sea, but I didn't feel like getting wet - maybe tomorrow though

I'm better in th4e sunshine too, lanzababy. When I think of organisms that adapt well to winter, I think of blubbery things like penguins, walruses, and polar bears. A heat wave in the areas where they live would be very uncomfortable for them.....

Last night I dreamed I was a lead character in "The Mikado," and I was late for the show because I couldn't find my tuxedo.

I'm sure I was dreaming last night, but I can't remember what it was about. Should I be concerned?

Anyway, I've just come home from lovely evening with my dear blurry friend. We have consumed a bottle of and talked a lot of nonsense and laughed a fair amount. Thank goodness for spell checkers or you would have a great deal of difficulty trying to decipher what I was talking about. The temperature is 24 Centigrade and there is no wind.

I think I need to fall asleep.
