Friends who you might have known all your life as such, or someone in the same road/street etc as in a neighbour, or a friend of a friend.
it's just a friendship at the end of the day

BUT! For a friendship that has never met (yet) True bonds can be made

"we" hear about online friendships etc and what that could entail

Itay sound strange but I made more friends during lockdown than I had in 10 years. I joined a Facebook group that was helping animals during the Australian bushfires, that group split into local hubs, so when that appeal finished, we decided to keep the group going for local charities, then COVID happened and we were rushed off our feet making masks, scrubs, bags, ear protectors. I'm still in touch now and still playing a big part

There are friendships made! That in many cases have a stronger bond than "some" families have as a "family"

The saying:- Blood is thicker than water - just don't apply in the "real world"

I have said for many years...I have 3 classes of "mates"

No1 - I might have known all my life, but they are still only a mate

No2 - It could be a "mate" of a mate, therefore is "my" mate (still only a mate)

No3 - I don't care how long I've known them ? BUT!!!! When I shout HELP!!! They are the only ones that appear with no questions asked!!!

You don't need to count on your fingers! How many come under No 3

I've got those kind of mates too

My dad years ago, asked a "mate" Why is it ? when you or our ask for each other to call, you turn up without knowing why ?
My mate replied! We don't need a reason! We're mates! We'll find out when we get there...

My dad always HAD to have a reason, before he did something or not for someone

SO couldn't understand, because he never had true friends etc, just "acquaintanceships"
