The reality of what has happened to your lad has just sunk in after reading this just now. It did put the mockers on my day in London yesterday, where I was sussing out the venue for the hootoo meet on the 14th of May.

Needless to say, Trish and I both send our warmest wishes and blessings for a speedy recovery!

Worrying times prof. By the sound of things he should be OK though. When I was waiting for my neck op, a young lad walked in (yes walked in) he'd done the same as your son, he had a frame like a tiny scaffold mounted somewhere in his shoulders and screwed into his skull. All that was for was to support his neck whilst everything "settled down", that sounds a bit like your lad.

If they have to fuse bones together, all that he'll suffer afterwards is a permanently restricted movement and a bloody headache if he pushes it too far

26th Apr' update

son had a physio' type lady see him this morning and she told him about the "scale" (he can't remember name)they use for(I reckon ?)touch/feeling/movement etc = 0 is nothing (nowt moves etc) and 12 is "normal" ? (I think,because he didn't have all the details). BUT! she said that when he came in, he was 0 and now he is 4.
As 2 of his friends had come to visit him, myself and my sister-in-law went for a , duringthe main doctor came to see him amd he said that he can give my son 3 options - No1. he can stay as he is a while longer - No2. he can have a heavier neck support put on and they'll sit him up a while - No3. they will operate, put steel plates in his bone bones, but he'll have a breathing tube inserted for about 3/4 days (obviously as his throat would get swollen). He actuallyused his head and said "I'll stay like this for a while longer and get some more movement etc" - I said best option son, allows your body to settle down etc from the trauma. I will be visiting again tomorrow afternoon and hopefully get more info from nurses etc.
