He's thinking about packing the wheelchair rugby in, as he took part for fun/entertainment but - there's a couple of blokes there who take it far too serious, because they are now in a league.
(fit men can play, as they all sit in special wheelchairs)
It's taken the fun bit out playing, but he says he'll still go support them.

Prof, that's a shame. I must admit to hating sport partly because the 'fun' has gone out of it with all the money it is raking in, and the extreme competitiveness which leads to some of the illegal stuff, not to mention the brutal stuff. A subject my late husband and I disagreed on totally!
Hope he feels better soon, that kind of pain is torture.

Your point of view Websailor is correct it belongs to a time when people were more generous and fair minded there are no sportsman/women around today, its just a job ruled by greed.

He's always been the same Webbie, if he's doing something he likes - in pleasure or a job, he'll carry on. But if he stops liking what he's doing, he'll not muck about and pack in and find an alternative

Hello Prof, I am very sorry to hear that Junior is suffering from trapped pain, I hope that the pain subsides and gets better.
It is not fare that healthy men are playing in wheelchairs as it should only be for those who are wheelchair users.

they are special wheelchairs for the disabled Kat and it neutralises fit men when they are fastened in one

true
the only advantage is, they have normal upper body function.
Such as PJ, he's only (more or less) got left side function, so wheelchair movement is restricted as such

My son is a physio therapist and my ex is an occupational therapist. It's a shame PJ lives so far away.

I'm finally back up and running thanks to an early birthday present from mi dad, I can now get on here more often instead of using my phone which obviously has a much smaller screen. I'm recently back from Stoke on Trent where the lions took part in the rugby tournament, I didn't play but we came 2nd and only lost to 1 team, the other teams may have stayed home as we beat them by at least 20-30 points. The only downside was I broke my day chair on the 1st day and had to borrow other chairs while the team was playing, so I'm waiting to hear what's happening with it as the part that broke is part of the main frame so its 1 full side of the chair. Luckily Pinderfields OT's have put a chair together for me to use for the time been but its taking some getting used to.

Well done you have many supporters here, who follow your sporting activity.
Profs news that you have to take it easy is a pity but you could become a trainer you are good enough.

I'm just out of fitness, nothing that some fiscal jerks would put right, I'll get round to it one day

Just a slight add-on
As of April 2018, it's now being 7 year since Prof Junior broke his neck and he's just hit his 32rd b/day early JuneHow times flies!
he's just the same as his dad life happens, so just get on with it
I'm STILL as "proud as Punch" of him, for NOT being a defeatist and facing life head-on
