The fault was with the extension cable as the sync rate at the test socket is 5600. it was showing 160 at the extension socket.

Please keep this connection solid for the next 3 days to allow the IPProfile to be updated.

Dear Sir.
As of Friday teatime, I followed the instructions given and my router is still connected to the main BT wall socket. After one and a half hours this morning (9.00am to 10.30am 29/09/09) of not having any internet connection at all, I have just completed another BT speed test and nothing has changed, this is now over the way 72 hour period. Therefore I think that this now shows that it is NOT my wiring/connection at fault(as the extension in the bedroom is out of the loop), but BT's wiring/connection from the BT installed wall socket to the junction box on the outside wall to the telegraph pole and beyond. This problem/fault is now nearing 6 weeks and seems no nearer to being rectified. I now ask that a Open Reach engineer brought in to hopefully rectify this situation. Please understand my frustration of NOT being able to use the internet that I am paying a monthly subscription for and not receiving.

Was speaking to a guy who does PC stuff for a living in the church (PUB!!) today.

As a 'gaming' prog has found its way into my Norton Vault, he reckons that a Trojan has hit me carrying a virus........

The only remedy he advises is a full Format and reboot.......

Will cost £££, so will have to wait until new year

Will this be just another electronic check and pass the buck back to you ? or will an Engineer actually come and check their lines and connections ?.
Because of Friday's telephone call from you and the subsequent check and weekend wait with no IP Profile return, it shows it's not my wiring at fault

It seems to me, prof, that these troubles started shortly after your house "make over". I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the Council clowns have messed up your input line (full of water and that sort of stuff), it does creep up wires y'know. As a TV engineer, how many aerial cables have you found inside a wall growing bush, cut in half by clumsy shears and twisted together by a nugget? I have! Quite a few, it don't half f**k up the signal.

either that, or an engineer on the pole outside my gate cocked up, as one did a few year agohe "repaired" a line, but got mixed up and "unrepaired" mine
