Kick out the clowns
Yarreau Posted Nov 28, 2008
Well, the Flora Dora Girls were part of the annual Sheepskin Revue Parade in Scio, Oregon...
... they carried signs, saying "I am Flora", and "I am Dora"...

Erm, yes... they were both quite tall, massively built, and extremely well endowed.
Somebody never caught on to it that they were actually blokes...

Yarreau Posted Nov 28, 2008
But I suppose what actually made me think of them was Chuckles the clown, who also haunted the parade every year. The lamest, stupidest, and most boring clown the world has ever seen, and that's saying something!

No, a mediocre clown turns a nice day miserable very easily...
Maybe they were just very well-sculpted from country air and eating good mutton! Nothing wrong with that.
I believe I'll miss you by a week or so when I hit Germany next. Pity - I'd have liked to meet you. Unfortunately the time off I could get wasn't exactly a free choice.

Yeah, that's too bad. The Sistabarista had been looking forward to meeting you, too. But maybe next time...
But then, Mala loves to call me "Beta version", so at least you get to see the actual release which is a lot less buggy.
Not THEM again!

Eek! Just stumbled upon again while doing research for a quiz game we're translating... now this is scary!
The-site-that-must-not-be-named says the following:
"Ihre größten internationalen Erfolge hatten sie (die Jacob Sisters) mit Auftritten in Las Vegas und New York in den 1960er Jahren, wo sie mit Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr. und Duke Ellington auftraten."
Can you imagine? And they were hardly any better back then than they are now...

Well, who knows. Maybe sometime I'll see you. (What's Sistabarista then? v2.0?)
I've always suspected Louis had a great sense of humour just from listening to him! Notice there's no venue mentioned - they just appeared in those cities at the same time as the real musicians.
Frankly though, I can see them in Vegas easily enough! What are you translating? Or is that a client confidentiality issue?
Not THEM again!
Yarreau Posted Nov 28, 2008
It's confidential, I'm afraid. But nothing too exciting. Mala is going to work on it, too. Just a trivia quiz game, plenty of those around.
I just started a QI thread, by the way - please don't guess, because I think you know the answer. But you might find it amusing...

One should think that by now someone would have thought to ask whether he wanted to prevent a certain person, or group of people, from attending the funeral...
If anyone guesses, keep your ; you can use them to take Mala out for dinner (quiche!) next weekend.

It was a good idea though - if I was headline-worthy enough for Elton John to chase my hearse, I think I'd do the same.
Quiche, eh? You're a cruel woman! I was looking for a veggie place actually. But Wupp seems to have a very Texan attitude to vegetarianism!

I think it was here that you posted how happy you were about the US election result when it took place. So here's one for you: http://magazine.web.de/de/themen/unterhaltung/comic/perscheid/2701984,page=3.html

Did you know that, some time ago, they named a sewage treatment plant in San Francisco after Dubya? Same concept...

I didn't know that, no. And on first glance it seems appropriate - but it's not, really. After all, he produced a lot more s**t than he removed...

I had my doubts, too, because the plant was environment-friendly... and the only thing that is to be said for him in that respect is that he is probably compostable...
