At the time I was really into Fords, and the majority of my cars have been Fords, even now. I'm all loved up with my Daihatsu at the moment, but my fave car probably was the Merc that I had.

A7524975 - Essex (Annie I remembered)
I've put a bit in about Ford Escort, seemed to be a lot of them being customised in Essex in the 70s, or maybe it was the same everywhere, and the Escort was an easy car to customise
I like those tiny little 2 passenger cars, I think they're cute, can't remember the name of them, (smart car, I think ) my son got me a little toy one, it's sitting in front of me on one of the PCs speakers.

As has already been discussed, Essex is rich in agriculture, however it does not just stop there. Essex is said to be part of the propserous south and is rich in industry - indeed many graduates of Hertfordshire University (Essex's neighbouring county) graduate straight into Essex's pharmaceutical companies.
Perhaps? I know what you mean about subheaders and headers.

Escorts are still being customised - my sister-in-law has one.
"being built at Ford’s factory in South Ockendon"
Should that be Fords'? It looks odd like that. I don't think I'm right though.
I had mainly Cortinas, have had 3 Fiestas, and 2 Escorts. I fancied a Smart, but the dogs won't fit. Sorry, getting off the subject a bit.

Tony, I'll see if anyone else has any suggestions before I add to the Entry
>"being built at Ford’s factory in South Ockendon"
I could change it to "being built at the Ford factory in South Ockendon" eliminating the apostrophe and the conundrum.

Done
erm, Tony have you deleted the original Essex Entry? I've just tried to find it, as I wanted to check something from the original PR thread, which is at the bottom of that Entry.

Still the Industry paragraph, what you suggested seemed more about the people than the industries. I'm try to blend historic industry and current, somehow...
"Essex is said to be part of the prosperous south and is rich in industry."
Before road and rail, the main transport was on sea, Essex has the longest coastline in the UK, so it was in ideal location for trading. Trying to blend something like that, with current reasons for companies choosing Essex.
I'm over my time on the PC, have to now.

Just looked in my encyclo. to try and help you with the previous post. Didn't find anything that I couils summarise easily/quickly, but I found these gems you might like to include:
The pre-Roman earthwork at Grymes' Dyke
Paycockes' House at Coggeshall nr Colchester is one of the finest medieval houses in the country.
Essex provided many of the early settlers in America and was anti-royalist in the civil war. Among notable men of Essex was Sir John Hawkwood, a 14th C soldier of fortune whose White Company won renown in the Italian Wars.
William Gilbert (sometimes spelled Gilberd) who discovered that the earth behaves as a magnet (Odd; I thought he was already in the Entry coz I recall reading about him on hootoo. But the hootoo search engine doesn't find him at all now.)
Dedham vale in the north is the subject of some of John Constable's
best known paintings.

"Being located so close to London, the prosperous south of England, and Europe, has helped encourage many industries to make Essex their home. These days there is a mix of old and modern industries, with both multinational companies and local businesses contributing to the industrial make-up of the county."
How's that?

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
