Hmmmm, yes Jon, keep taking your tablets
I think I've dealt with all points, suggestions and corrections up to, and including BH's post #27 if I've missed something, it's been over-looked, not ignored, so please tell me.
I'm not happy with bit about Fords, will look into adding a little more to that and will find out and add about smuggling.

The beginning seems to have gone a bit wrong:
"Essex borders with Hertfordshire to the south, and both Cambridgeshire and Suffolk to the north."
Should be something like
Essex borders with Hertfordshire to the west, both Cambridgeshire and Suffolk to the north, Greater London to the south west, and Kent to the south over the River Thames.
Can you link the list of borough councils to the entries about the towns? Although it's not quite correct, it shows where gaps are which is one of the ideas of these entries.
Greenstead church is the oldest wooden church - not sure about building.
"some might say the most unluckiest pier, due to the amount of time it has been closed for repairs."
I think this is misleading, because it sounds like it's always closed, but it's open much more than it's closed. Perhaps 'prone to fires' or something.
The reason I suggested a timeline for some historical events is that you've got a few bits, but it makes the entry longer this way, and when my dad read it, he said it was 'bland'.
There's lots of info about agriculture and history that I posted here and in the previous thread on the request of the compilers, and collaborative topics should use as much of the content as possible. If there are reasons not to add it, fine, but I've not been given any. It's making me not want to post any more info because it's just a waste of my time!

Ps the London entry has more than one list in, and it looks fine.

Oooppppsss forgot to say I'll be adding more to agricultural.
Mina, I said "I think I've dealt with all points, suggestions and corrections up to, and including BH's post #27" that doesn't include your post #31, I'd not got up to including info from that, though I did add about Greenstead church after I posted. And I know there's info from previous PR thread that I need to find more about, I looked at that thread a few days ago, (post #49, I think) there's also the 'Challenge' thread, that's 3 threads I'm trying to work from.
Also, I have a life and commitments outside of h2g2, I have limited time on the PC, which I share with my partner and son. I suffer from insomnia on a regular basis (which may or may not contribute to my memory problems) and do not always feel up to writing and researching. However, for the past week I have spent most of my online time either writing or researching for this Entry. I'm not complaining, just stating the facts

From post #31
St Peter's-on-Sea - I can only find just one sentence on this restore chapel, so I don’t think it’s worth adding to the Entry.
St Peter's-on-Sea, Bradwell-on-Sea. A small restored 7th Century Saxon chapel, access is by a track. Scene of an Annual Pilgrimage 1st Sat in July. Services Jul & Aug Sun 18:30 Tel: 01621 77603
St Osyth priory – will find out more and add over the next couple of days.
Bell Common Cricket Club – I’ll need to look into some more, a quick google didn’t show any hits.
Floods hit East Anglia – I’ve got an old Essex magazine with an article about the Canvey Island flood. There was also the Great Storm of 87, I’m considering doing a small section on extreme weather, need to check that out bit more.
councils and the populations – are part of the introduction of the Entry, and I think they belong near the top. Though I may delete the populations as I have no date reference for them, and include info from 2002 census instead.

didn't mean to sound snippy! I was worried that if I get posting stuff up you'd strangle me at the next meet!

St-Peter's is at the moment (AFAIK) the building with the longest continous history of worship in the country.
It was founded by St Cedd (wasn't the collage in Dirk Gently's named after him ?) (then Bishop of Essex) as St Peter's Cathedral in 654AD on the site of an old roman fort. When Cedd died in 664 the building past to the diocese of London as the Minster for the local area. Its had a number of owevers including the monks of St Valery on the Somme and William Wykeham, and during its long existance has also been used for storing farm supplies and cattle. It was restored in 1920 for use as a chapel. It's current Bishop is The Rt Reverend Laurie Green.

Well, I hate to say it, but are you just relying on the web? Because that's a source I rarely use for my historical entries. There's no reason we can't be the first! I know you're busy, but I can visit the library again - although Jon_M seems to have some info.
As for length of entry - just let this one roll - have you seen the length of the Wiltshire entry!?

Well, I don't think the Wiltshire Entry is particularly long.
(I think that idf St Peter's has the longest history of continuous worship in the country, then it's worth adding - even if it was only one line.

'Well, I don't think the Wiltshire Entry is particularly long'.
In fact, I notice that the Editor(s) have added another two paragraphs to it since it left PR

I just posted a load of stuff, and it's vanished!! I'll try again.
St Peter's chapel - http://www.bradwellchapel.org/
Some more comments on it. It can only be reached along the sea wall. It is suggested that visitors have refreshments at the Green Man before tackling the walk.
Greenstead Church - some more info - I stopped off at the church while out and about today.
It also has the grave of a 12th Century Crusaders grave in the churchyard, tucked into the corner against the church next to the entrance, it has one of those flat tombstone things that covers the grave - no markings on it now. It's surrounded by railings to protect it now, and is marked with a plaque.

it can be reached without goign to the seawall. You drive into the car park and tottle past past a field

My dad is working from memory, so apologies for any misremembering, or just not having been there for a long time! :D

Ok, I'll add about St. Peter's chapel, but with the other religious bits that have been suggested or already added can that be the last religious history bit
And yes Mina, I am using mostly the net for info.

Mina, for
http://www.bradwellchapel.org/
how did you find that

Mina Posted Dec 18, 2005
Not by searching for the chapel! Someone on that site needs to sort their site out! I searched for Bradwell on Sea, as I wanted to check the pub my dad mentioned (The Green Man) was still there before I posted, and I got that site as the first result. Yet searching for the chapel itself got me the one liner that you got. Strange.
