Personal view of the daily slog to work. As such it can't be changed to go in the edited guide.
I don't want to put too many pictures into it, but it might benefit from a couple more.

Cool The only thing is, I use Classic Goo and can't really read the black font used in the first paragraph!

Yeah you don't need to specify what colour the font is, unless you want doobily colours. In Brunel and Alabaster it comes up black, in goo it usually comes up white.
This amused me, although...are all the pictures needed? Oh and if you have Word or similar then try chucking this through the Spell checker quickly. I could be wrong but I think there were two or three interesting spelling instances

Frood, thanks for that. I don't ever use Goo, so wouldn't have picked up on it.
Kat, It's my first attempt at an article in GM, so I'm still learning. I take it that if I don't specify Frood would have been able to read the 1st bit.
As for the pics, they are just to break it up a bit as it is longish.
Thanks to both of you.
*heads for dictionary to check for spelling.

Frood you should be able to read it now. It might even be spelt correctly, although word decided on (U.S) and fought against (U.K).

Yup he would. Specifying black doesn't make any difference except in Goo so there's not much point specifying
I never specify black or blue for entries because of people using Goo. I don't use it (switched for each new version as soon as it was available) but we have to think of the gooey people

No, I think she's implying I'm outdated and living in the past! *Unsticks himself from his chair* There's nought wrong with being gooey...

Goo and bikes go together in a way.
People who use Goo/bikes are either rather young or rather old. They appreciate beauty and sensation, and they're on one side or the other of life's rut of conformity.
The practical people in between use Brunel/cars, apparently oblivious to the fact that both are spot-welded and festooned with features we don't actually need.

And Alabaster users my dear analogist? Pray, tell, where do they fit into your philosophy, dare I ask?

I think they're pretty legendary, Frood.
Kind of like yetis.
When I first registered, I used Alabaster for about ten minutes, and went snowblind.

Yet, is a legend born! Or at least was born, in the 60's.
I don't use goo cos it caused me all sorts of problems when I joined. Brunel just didn't sit right for me.

*raises an eyebrow*
What about people who are young, have been here since the site began, use brunel AND ride motorbikes??
Just to make life difficult for you

I rather like this. I couldn't make up my mind whether or not it was trying to be a poem, or trying to be prose, but it held my attention and gave me a sense of riding a bike.
Nice stuff!
Have you shown it to Shazz at <./>ThePost</.>?
Ben
PS - good to see illustrations, too.

Thanks Ben.
The illustrations have now got one vote for and one against. For me it just breaks it up a bit.
Hadn't thought of sending it to Shaz, but I will do so now. I figured that she probably trawled the AWW from time to time.
As for the style, I couldn't decide either. It was going to be a poem but the words came straight at me. I knew if I didn't get them down I'd lose the thread of it searching for witty remarks.

Congratulations Outrider . Posting to let you know that this piece has been selected as an <./>underguide</.> entry.
An UnderGuide Gem Polisher will be in touch for any final revisions or tweakings you might want or they might suggest before creating a UG copy of the entry to be featured on h2g2's Front Page one week.
Congrats again, and thank you for contributing here . I've not been on a motorbike, (scooter yes, motorbike no), I think reading this comes close.
