The AWW would be the place for this, as it's obviously too 'alternative' for the Edited Guide.
I like the irreverent tone of the piece. However, I'm a bit worried about the advice to dice with death on the metro, and sell oxo cubes wrapped in tin foil to the nearest goff. I know you're only joking but you don't know how people will react.
The AWW welcomes personal accounts. Perhaps it would be better presented as a kind of "Why I love Newcastle" piece, rather than an alternative guide.

Yes, it's good.
For just the reasons mVp says, this would get a hard time if you put it in Peer Review (which is where pieces intended for the Edited Guide are reviewed). I'd say don't go there with opinion-pieces, at least not till you've been around h2g2 a while and would relish the argument, rather than be turned off by it.
Judging by the piece, you'll enjoy yourself here though. Writing ability with a bit of attitude. Nice job. I wonder if you might have made some changes to make it clear it's a personal view following mVp's post some 10 hours ago (though probably not - it would have been the middle of the night). My advice would be not to go any further in that apologetic vein, and maybe in fact to take some of that out. The strength of this piece is its slightly-cynical, worldly confidence. Don't worry about offending anyone, UNLESS you want to make a pitvh for the Edited Guide.
Well done, too, for completely avoiding the usual football moan. Newcastle is indeed a great place, but the Keegan Requiem is getting very boring for the rest of us.
