Although this was originally written in 2000, it doesn't seem to have seen the light of day ... I think it should ... it just needs a little visibility ... and it is easier to understand than all the alternatives !

oh, wonderful! As you say, much easier to understand than the alternatives.
Such a shame Orinocco doesn't seem to be active anymore. This did get featured in AGG/GAG/CAC, in May'02, but deserves another airing. Thank you for posting it here, I think it's a gem.

I enjoyed seeing this piece aired here. It is very will done.
But, I feel that there are other alternatives to the string theory that have been sadly ignored. Besides the String Theory, there is the Rubber Band Theory, the Paper Clip Theory, the Cello-Tape Theory, the Loose Bit of Thread Theory, the Knotted-Up-And-Discarded Cord Theory, and the Ball-o-Twine That is Almost but Not Quite Rope Theory.
Certainly these other complex and very worthwhile theories should not be ignored?

I have just re-read this as it suddenley appeared back on my convo list - and I thought what on earth would have I said in a String theory entry.
I am pleased to say it has had me in fits of laughter - well extremely loud chortling - again.
