I am entering this as pure fiction (well probably science fiction). I wont say much here because I would like to hear what other people think of it. Any hints on how to improve it? Any Criticisms are welcome. And any complements would be graciously recieved.

"I fairly happy" = "I'm fairly happy"

Ah.
Just being careful.
If I don't give myself time to think, to distance myself from things, then I just type away.
The episodal nature with a little cliff hanger is classic.
Nothing wrong with that.
I just haven't found anything to be curious about or to look forward to, yet.
It can sometimes be a mistake to start at the beginning.
I do not see what your hero's occupation, or lack of one, has to do with the plot.
Lord Knows, looking at the stuff I write, and most of it is lies, that I often do things that seem senseless to the reader, but I try to tie up the loose ends fairly soon, so they can go on to be distracted by some other bits of weirdness.
I suggest you try a little trick that seems to work with some people.
Print out your story and read it aloud.
See how the word flow or don't.
I have been known to type away like mad, sometimes believing that mileage on the keyboard is the same as credibility with the reader, 'cause if I'm working this hard, then they better d**n well appreciate it! Usually, that mad little mood passes and I am brought down to earth.
Hope this helps.
If it doesn't, I'm willing to try again.

Hmm... I think I'm going to have to think about this, or I'll write something I don't want to, and I'll lose track of what I was trying to do in the story. Thanks for the comments

There are people who believe in outlines.
I am not one of them, but I respect those who do.
I have also heard of a technique where you write the ultimate destination first and then write around it or up to it.
I don't do that, but I understand that some are very committed to it.
Keep in mind that sometimes the story has a mind of its own.

Oh, stories definitely have minds of their owns. Tricksy little buggers that they are.
I was glad to see that you don't appear to suffer from adjectivitis or the associated disease adverbosity.
Persistantly and intrusively overusing unnecessary but tempting adverbs and adjectives is a seductive and hard-resist fault in nascent fiction writers.
I am sure we had a couple of exercises at school where we had to write stories with no adjectives and no adverbs. Surprising what you can do without them.
As I said, you don't over-use either in this piece, and I am extremely grateful for the fact.

Ah so many ideas, and so little time...
Thanks for commenting by the way, its been a while since I saw this entry. My first story on hootoo, and still probably my strangest

Three if you include Storytime III but that doesn't count!

Depends on the story...
'Chris DeBurgh- a legacy in waiting' wouldn't appeal now would it!
It's taken me over a year to write FRAGMENTED to part XI !

It's quite funny how, as far as I know, I'm writing for three people...
It's that that keeps me going!

I thought like that once. Then I advertised everywhere I could. Now about 3 people know about my 168 story

Someone such make 'Son of Fiction Central'....
A812837 - Life and Artfeld McNalty - Part One
Terran Posted Nov 16, 2003
Not quite son of fiction central, but I did come up with A1957098. Which is kind of thread based story writing idea, for people to work on their own stories.
I think with a new fiction central you would need a collective entity. You need more than one person just incase, like with Peregrin, the person who edits the page goes AWOL.
That said hasn't Shazz got something like fiction central in the archives? Not as big perhaps, but the stories are generally longer...
