Hi Babe;
Is it worth mentioning that Beauty shop she set up (Uglies ?) that they did a program about ?
On smears they also try to limit how often you can go - my wife was recommended by a specialist to have one every 12 months - and every time they say "At your age we only recommend a smear every 2 years."

Hi McKay
I wrote this and submitted it as an example for the next Stretcher challenge: A47534448
I deliberately skimmed Jade's career or I'd have been here all night as it was this took me 3 hours to put together in the required format. Smear test entry here: A14611420
I will write a proper entry on cervical cancer later, it's on my list

I know that Babe - it's a good job her husband's called Jeff.
But once it's in PR I think I've gotta treat it like any other entry.

Jade was told that she may have cervical cancer ... this should be "might have". The diagnosis was uncertain at the time, but she knows now.

I was so astonished by the tone of this entry I nearly hit the complaints button. The house rules still say 'otherwise objectionable' and I'm sorry, but I find this entry objectionable!
There are a lot of comments about 'ignorant' and 'talentless' even 'businesswoman' is given inverted comments as if she is not. The overall tone of the whole entry is dismissive and abusive as if she is giving herself airs abover her station and I don't think h2g2 and the BBC should be hosting entries like this about anyone, let alone a dying women. Regardless of personal feelings about this woman (and the entry reads as if the Researcher's opinion of Jade Goody is very low).
There is also the question of calling her parents 'drug users'. Is there proof of this considering one parent left at such an early age? There are remarks made about lack of schooling in a very derogatory way, as is 'now entitled' to call herself an author, as if she is too appalling to be an author but that's what she calls herself, also 'career' is in inverted commas. Why is that? Is it laughable that she might have a career?
The heading 'Something Gross' is simply speculation on the Researcher's part and certainly has no place in a factual Guide.
If this was written as something to do with The Post then I hope they have the common sense to remove it.

A lot of what is said in this entry may be true in terms of facts, but I don't think it's balanced enough to pass through PR. In fact, shouldn't it really be submitted somewhere else?
If it is to be made suitable for the edited guide, perhaps a good start would be to remove all the quote marks around words such as businesswoman and career, and taking out at least some if not all of the unnecessary qualifying adjectives such as the "unexpected" in the final section, or the perplexing/talentless in the opening paragraph. [Is she really perplexing anyway? Isn't the perplexing thing (for some people, at least) that the general public are that interested in her?]
I realise from reading the instructions for the Stretcher stuff that this follows those guidelines; I just don't understand why you've submitted it here. Wouldn't the AWW be more suitable, or have I misunderstood what that's for too? I've never seen an entry particularly like this in the edited guide.

I've emailed the other Judges for their response to your wish about the removal of The Stretcher competition

Just to clarify: this entry is not part of The Post's Stretcher competition. I am a Judge, not a contestant. I submitted this piece to show what could be done with the instructions this time: each sentence ends with a word containing a double letter.
While this is in PR it is subject to the usual rules, and if it is offensive then that is what the moderation system is for. If it is deemed unsuitable for PR by my peers then it will be removed.
