Given what modern science does not know of what there is to know - for the time being, everything is possible

You know what, langsandy?
There are half a dozen top-drawer writers around hootoo, and you're one of them.
Moreover, you keep on surpassing yourself. Among the best already, you're still getting better and better.
This is a great piece. Your descriptive prose is so lavish, and yet your narrative is so spare and economic. I love reading your work.
Thanks

Brilliant writing.
The second section, in particular, reads like poetry. And I like the end, leaving us with some hope that, somewhere, Jack and Elsi are still alive.

Such vivid images! And the words all fit, as mVp says, like poetry.
