Why can't I get rejected?
zb Posted Oct 4, 1999
No, it just means my attitude towards submission has changed. I now wait until I think I have something worthy of a guide entry before wasting the editorial team's time with my request.
Before, when it asked me if I wanted to have my article rejected, it was an open door to sending in an incomplete and, frankly, particualrly unworthy item for consideration.
Now I've got the hang of things I can start in earnest.
Any idea how long the 15-week backlog is now?

Last I knew it was still at around the 13-week mark... However, Peta will be rounding up sub-editors soon, so we might be able to expect a huge drop in the backlog.

Women reject me all the time. I'm a natural at rejection. I should get paid professionally for rejection, I've got so much experience in it. I should start a union. I could win awards. I'm a natural. It's a gift. I can get rejected at a drop of a hat. I don't even have to lift a finger and I could get rejected. In the time it takes you to read these words I will have been rejected at least a dozen times and I haven't even gotten out of bed yet. There's nothing to it. Just takes practice. Then someday you can get rejected just like me.

I wouldn't wonder...its likely that that is a form of rejection he could get used to...you have to have verbiage to really reject someone with style.

Sorry. No, nothing wrong at all. In fact I signed up for word of the day after the h2g2 flurry on the subject got me interested. It was interesting to see how many words from http://www.dictionary.com/wordoftheday/ turned up on the suggestions for http://www.h2g2.com/A142147.
I was simply quoting from Friends in case anyone was remotely interested (Ross to Joey when he uses three 3-syllable words in one sentence)

Heh.. Could have been anyone to Joey when he used more than three one-sylable words in a sentence.
(But yeah, I remember, now that you mention it.)
What I first thought of was that (iirc) verbiage was one of the first of the h2g2 WOTD words.

That's what made me think of it. But it doesn't seem to be there now.
