*as Kent Brockman* "There you have it. Woo."
Well, the Chicago Chapter Meeting of h2g2 is roaringly underway with not one, but TWO, yes TWO, active participants thus far. (one of that two is me). Let's go Chicago! I know we have more folks out there who are just dying to meet for stupid games and beers at Grant Park!
Amanda, my friends are laughing at me because I have apparently switched to speaking in pounds. (I only really do it when we're talking about the flat, or his trip here, or stuff to do with him, but they enjoy ribbing me about it). As far as I know I have never heard him use the words either "pish" or "piffle" but I certainly seem to be aquiring a decidedly British style. My new favorite word is still "snog". Hee hee.
GITCHER BUTT TA CHICAGO GIRL!!

Snog. Heh-heh heh...heh. It just makes you want to giggle.
And have you noticed that in a world devoid of HTML you suddenly yearn for it? I do. But that doesn't say a whole lot about the things I yearn for...ahem.
Sooo, Chicago. Right. Now I'm warning you in advance:
1) If and when I show up it will be on the weekend of my birthday (Aug. 1st for those of you who don't already know), so I expect presents and cake and party hats and swans carved out of ice cream. Or maybe I'll just let you buy me a drink. Yeah, I think that'll suffice. And,
2) Mike (my non-British accent wielding oily bo-hunk) will be in tow, but I think we can loose him at Michigan Ave. if any really serious shopping needs to get done. Or another similar emergency.
Awright then, luv! Sounds like a plan. Lemme know how that looks from your end.

Well, here's some late breaking on that-- Here I am, in the very nearly Chicagoland area, ready for anything..... Except beer. You see, I'm at the not-yet-fully-baked age of 19, and it is therefore illegal for me to tip back a few tall cool ones with you folks in Grant Park. Besides... If I were lookin' to get boozed up, I'd have to be listening to Tom Waits, and my Waits is currently being borrowed by my bro. Um... rambling.... Z?
So! Right, party on I say to you all. I've got nothing but a bundle of snogs for Adams fans, stroppy or not.

Hee hee...snoggings all around!
Amanda, you AND your oily bo-hunk Mike are welcome to hang with me in the greater Chicagoland area. Or a very small Chicagoland area consisting of a bar, pub, or club.
For all non-alcohol consuming 19 year olds, (or those younger) we will be happy to encourage, in addition to bring-your-own-bear, bring-your-own-pop-or-various-other-fruity-beverage. Also, I promise not to get drunk and weave around in an unacceptable manner. Much.
Anyone have sporting equipment?
We now have 4, yes FOUR!!! people on the Chicago Get Together list. Anyone else??

Not actually there now but was recently visiting there (as in got back here 1 day ago!) Also am thinking of moving there in the next 9 months or so and am going to be in the LA area for New Year's. I love CA and would love living there. The weather is soooo perfect and the people are the greatest!!! Sorry I guess this wasn't really a helpful answer to your post.......

thank you. Actually it is looking like I might be in the DC area sometime in September as my fiances mother has decided to become Catholic (long story, sensitive topic, don't ask, maybe I will write about it in my journal later) and we are going down there for the Confirmation. Which of course is the last thing that I want to have to do less than a month before my wedding, but hey she picked then to do it, so who am I to complain..........Enough I will stop.....I swear. Not sure of the exact date yet, but will let you know.

Krissy...feel free to smack me. Really. Hard.
Ok, so I was moving and wouldn't be able to make it to Chicago before I left, right? Ha! Now I'm not moving, not 'till October anyhoo, so a Chicago trip is very eminent. Very. Right. Trust me, I'm confused too.
AND I've recently learned that there are several St. Louisans floating about in this place SO I propose that we all car-pool to the Windy City and have one big shin-dig hulabaloo. Whaddya think about them apples?

So are we going to set a date for this thing? I'm actually in the St.Louis area this weekend--but really really busy.

I will be in the D.C. Area from August 27 till September 5. However, I am only 17, so any place with an 18 or older age limit is out of the question for me.

Ok, well I guess I can make it semi-official.
All St. Louisans and/or Chicago..people (what IS your nick name??):
I would very much like to plan a trip to the Windy City involving as many researchers from our region as possible. I know for sure that there are three of us from St. Louis and at least two from Chicago.
The get-together has to be before the end of October as I'm moving away semi-permenently to a scary and far-away land (Oklahoma), so this'll be my last time in Chi-Town for a while. (Plus...I wanna go while the water's still warm - a dip in Lake Michigan at Lighthouse Beach by the Baha'i Temple is definitely on my itinerary!)
Of course that's just my own wish-list, and I'm going to take the trip no matter what. But the more the marrier, I say! I'm planning on Mid-September, let me know if this works for anyone else. You can E-mail me from my page and we'll iron out the details.

Hey, how about Pittsburgh? I live about an hour and a half from there, and I know there's at least 2 people who live there. I nominate the frood who wrote the Pittsburgh Guide entry to head this project.

I suppose I count, if one considers adjoining towns in Massachusetts to be part of the Connecticut area.
