Hi yourself!
What a fantastic name !!
Makes mine sound like some sad old girl, living with 3,000 cats!
It's not but due to having 2 tibetan terriers and collecting Sooty.
I was born in 64, same year as his girlfriend Soo
Close friends call me the Queen of Norway...

smiley - laugh thanks
Tavaron is elvish and means woodlandsprite and 'da Quirm' is from the Discworld novels. Leonard da Quirm is the equivalent of Leonardo da Vinci.

Who or what is Sooty?

My son would shoot me for being so ignorant, as his hero is Legolas!!
My sister loves a bit of Pratchet, and I am only aware of Discworld because of her.
I used to work in a bookshop in Southampton, called Hammicks, and Terry P. came to do a signing, and I got to make him a cup of tea.
I must say you could n't meet a nicer chap, and I really must get round to reading one of his books sometime...
Still liking the name, sound noble, enchanted, other worldly...
Soo

Don't worry, I'm sure your son wouldn't have known the name either.smiley - winkeye I chose it because it's not so obvious, it doesn't appear anywhere in Lotr or so, I even think it only is written in Tolkiens notes or so.smiley - laugh

smiley - huh Sooty is god? Sorry, I don't know him/her/it.

Sooty is a childrens glovepuppet who does not speak, but when I was a child in the late 60s early 70s could get away with hitting his best friend Sweep the dog, over the head with a hammer!!
I loved the badness of it the pure unadulterated violence (hee hee)
He has remained as popular as ever with children of all ages.
Which planet have you been on for the last 60 years??
I really am not being rude, but he is a part of our cultural heritage that is hard to have missed!!

Well, sorry, I haven't been born yet in the 60s and 70s and I also doubt that they showed this here (Austria).

But let's move over to the other thread: F133719?thread=3293644&skip=12360&show=20

Sorry that you dont know the joy that is Sooty...
I went to stay with my Austrian penfriend in 1981.
Elizabeth Riegler, who lived in Kegelgasse? in Wien.
I had a fantastic time, and we went to the ice caverns near Saltzberg which I will never forget!!
You are very lucky to live in such a beautiful, friendly place!
See you at the link maybe?
