I know what you mean and as I don't plan to hitchhike through space any more I prefer clean and fluffy myself
However, you never know what may happen in the future (just ask Arthur Dent) and it is worth remembering what the guide told us:
"... many hitchhikers modify their towels ... ford prefect ... one corner soaked with nutrients ... Roosta, whose towel is saturated with protein, vitamins, wheatgerm, Bar-B-Q sauce ..."
