Not really. But it works the other way round actually.
"Old Ned" is a traditional English euphemism for the devil.
Google search 'Devil Euphemisms' if you don't believe me. smiley - devil

So that's why the 'NED Flanders' character is also the devil.
And of course it's why Flanders, the 'religious guy' on the Simpsons, was named 'Ned'.
