(The spelling thing is that we allow any names which sound similar, e.g. Vladimir F Kennedy = John F Kennedy + Vladimir Lenin = John Lennon)
No, I give up. By all means give us a clue...

Well I've heard of Brian Daley, but not Brian Smith. Ditto Margaret Daley. I'm not going to get this one, so I'll leave it for someone else with a better knowledge of authors.

Perhaps before I get too deeply into the author theme, my main person has written and published; but not in the accepted sense - he uses the medium of computer and perhaps even programming - think JRR T

As this was my first try, shall I explain who it is and how I got there, so you can tell me where I went wrong? It must be my error 'cos all the earlier ones I watched, seem to have been beyond me; but were apparently relatively easy to the rest of you!
I don't mind being pounced on if I've made a total bodge of this

*waits with bated breath*
Go ahead - and mind, it took me a while to find out how to do it, I even wrote all the versions down and checked - and yet I made mistakes

Main Man: Dan Smith - using Dan Daley (Author and Journalist www.dandaley.net) and Wilbur Smith - Author of When the Lion Feeds etc;
Dan Smith is the guy who created and published the 'Fantasy Fonts for Windows' These are all the character fonts which were used in JRR Tolkeins Lord of the Rings weird languages that nobody understands; but can now be used on computers.
Sorry if I've been a pain

Yes, for once it's not 'Mea maxima culpa', but - heck, what's the Latin equivalent for 'your' ?

not sure, could it be raptus regaliter up?
As I appear to have blotted my copybook at go 1, I'll watch again for the next few goes before I have another attempt.
Hope I haven't spoiled it all completely - its a really good area.

No, please, have another go, you made everything right, it's just that we didn't know your Doppelgangers.

Nothing wrong with your setting, except I just hadn't heard of Dan Daley or Dan Smith.
They can be really difficult to set, as well-known people in one culture are often unheard of in another.
Looking forward to the new one
(If anyone's interested, I can dig out the puzzle on the "Quiz of the Day" thread that started it all - for some solving practice)

OK, this was the quiz that started it all.
All the answers (but not the interim celebrities) are pop artists.
The interim names are vaguely related to each other - i.e. in the same field, if that helps.
