Puzzle 8 - Four Fours
Icy North Started conversation Mar 11, 2005
OK, here's an interactive puzzle.
You have to construct a sum using four 4's (and no other numbers), to make successive integers.
I'll start you off by making 1:
(4+4)/(4+4) = 1
The next person to post will use four 4's to make 2, and so on.
There is no restriction on which mathematical functions and operators you use with the four 4's. You should easily be able to get up to 10 using only + - * / ( ) and square root - SQRT()
Let's see how high we can go...

That's disallowed, Popa. You must use all four 4's.

(44 ÷ 4) + (Sqrt 4) = 13
4 + 4 + 4 +(Sqrt 4) = 14
(44 ÷ 4) + 4 = 15
4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 16
