This one's a bit tongue - in - cheek.

An elderly farmer has a few dairy cows, 11 in fact, and it's his intention to retire and spend more time in the pub with his farmer friends.
He decides to give these cows to his three sons in the following ratio:-
One half to the eldest, one quarter to the second, and one sixth to the youngest.

How did he do this without harming an animal, or causing any argument amongst his sons ?

He borrows a cow from his neighbour,so there is a total of twelve cows.He gives the oldest son six cows, the second son gets three cows, and the youngest son gets two cows. Then he gives the spare cow back to his neighbour. smiley - biggrin
