Secretly Not Here Any More

I'm generally fine with thieving when it doesn't involve me getting caught.

Is it OK for animals to steal? If so, why not humans?

"And with a functioning and generally fair judicial system self-defence (and euthanasia, but that's a whole new ball game of ethics) is the only necessary use needed"

But it seems to me that you're changing the whole nature of Z's question by taking a "functioning and generally fair" judicial system as a given. To remind you of the question:

"is it *ever* ok to steal? Are there any other laws that can be ignored on occasion?"

History is full of occasions where there's not a 'functional and generally fair judicial system', unfortunately. It is possibly even the rule, rather than the exception to it.

Perhaps I am altering the question, but I believed myself to be answering at least a part of it
Assuming a said system I believe my comments are correct
Not assuming such (or, to make life easier, assuming a non-just system)
things become more complicated - you could argue that "crimes" needed to bring in such a system, so long as they are the minimum necessary, are allowed - but that ignores say committing actions to protect yourselves and others which may not advance the cause at all
I think in many of these you;re running into a lesser evil case - it may not be right to steal something (not least, the stall owner might have done nothing wrong) but it can be better than allowing someone to starve

A full, and even a sound set of just my arguments and views would take up far to much space, but I'll hope to continue the debate with the above

I didn't think your answer was an incorrect answer, just that it wasn't an answer to the question Z asked. It was built on an assumption that wasn't present in the original question.
