Newport 'The Port' FC is the Island's most successful team, since its establishment in 1888

In the 1950s it regularly played in the first round of the FA Cup, something it has done twice again in recent years and the team has played in the premier division of the Dr Martins League.

re: Bristol teams. Avon no longer exists and Bristol is now a city split between South Gloucestershire (the north) and north or north east Somerset (the south). Strictly speaking then, Bristol City are in Somerset and therefore beat Bath City to 'best' team (I don't think there's many others in contention). The best team in Bristol though is, strictly speaking, a Gloucestershire team. Good old Bristol Rovers. Up the Gas!

I really don't know, it's hard to find out. I would guess that is the case as they are city teams. They are doing quite well aren't they?
