To be fair...that just happens to be a sensible place to camp. Awfy hard to get your pegs into that red tarmac stuff. Or should we see malicious conspiracy everywhere?

Well, it's certainly a larger venue there in Glasgow than the little park here.
Here they're openly suggesting on their webpage disbanding the occupation.

And fair enough. Who, after all, cares if anyone occupies Edmonton.
Or, admittedly Glasgow. Point taken that this isn't how I'd do it. I'm not out there in a tent and I'm hardly taking my political leadership from them. On the other hand, they're....something.

'Who, after all, cares if anyone occupies Edmonton.'
Certainly not a noticeable proportion of the citizens of Edmonton.

Wooses. The St Pauls lot are on concrete
And I would suggest if there *is* a sensible place to camp in Glasgow, it's not in the civic centre but on Glasgow Green - the traditional protest site, (Heck, I took part in a march there in the late 80s remembering the Calton Weavers. We went from the Green to the Square and back. Elaine C Smith got pissed and sang "Stand by your man" on the main podium. Dinnae lecture me on Glasgow protests. You weren't there, man)

(just for educational purposes, from what I can glean from wikithingy, Glasgow and Edmonton have roughly the same population)

But does Edmonton have 70 outlets of Greggs? That says a lot about the locals.

I looked 'em up. We don't have 'em over here.

Probably just as well. 70 outlets selling mechanically-reclaimed animal by-products soaked in fats and baked in pastry isn't a good thing.
But the doughnuts are good

I must have already quoted a friend's father in law, a CP member in the '40s:
'We beat the Blackshirts back from Glasgow Green. And I do mean 'beat', by the way.'
Be fair. A wee camp on Glasgow Green is just a bunch of cub scouts. you need somewhere with Passing Trade. Also...you do need to 'Occupy'. This implies being somewhere you're not meant to be.

I know it's a little obvious but . . .
An anti-corporate protest organized on twitter and facebook with iphones.
Someone organized an anarchist book fair in my neighbourhood a few weeks ago. I wanted to go in and ask who was in charge.

Um.... it's not inconsistent to be in favour of a more equal society and against corporate greed and use twitter and facebook and iphones....

Oh, give over, anhaga. With the possible exception of the Communist Party of Cambodia, I can't recall any political movement that has advocated reverting to an agrarian age.
We live in a corporate world. Are protestors supposed to boycott *life* to satisfy the snide?

Back atcha.
A line I often have cause to use: 'If I'd wanted to be taken seriously I wouldn't have made such an obviously flippant remark.'
