anyone here from essex?
Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk Posted Feb 4, 2011
I'm from Essex, but I don't live there now, and won't be down there until Easter. How urgent is it?

fluffykerfuffle Posted Feb 4, 2011
well its not the end of the world or anything
go to that link i left to see what we are discussing
it has to do with an interesting thing about arthur dent
one of douglas adams' characters
hopefully someone else can get over there before easter

Sooner would be better, but I'm not sure whether there would be anything to find now, anyway. No harm in looking though.

it is for times like this that I keep a link to the map on my personal space http://www.bbc.co.uk/go/dna/h2g2/brunel/U170775/ext/_auto/-/http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/showguestmap.do?id=h2g2

shagbark Posted Feb 4, 2011
of course if we lose the dna platform that link might stop working and you would need to go direct to

Rather than read a broken discussion can you just tell me what you want here? I could pop down to Southend any weekend but reading through the thread I have no idea what is being discussed.

which is the town that a certain arthur dent had a parish around 1600
and he wrote a book called something like a simple pilgrims way to heaven
which he wrote after he read pilgrims progress
now douglas adams wrote some books featuring arthur dent as a detective
and some have suggested that its no accident
anyone here from essex?
fluffykerfuffle Posted Feb 4, 2011
to which douglas replied that it must be an accident because he doesnt remember that book
so its my theory he must have heard of it in his sleep thru a tv or person talking around him
or at school
because he went to school in brentwood
and i was thinking if someone went down there
and chatted the locals up
or checked out the churches from 1600
maybe we would get some clues
i cant go because i am in america
and on the west coast to boot

anyway that link up there is for a pretty short thread
for a peer review on an entry about the 'real' arthur dent
and in the thread we posted a map and a link to info on arthur from wikipedia
also it would be interesting if we could contact his school in brentwood and see what the curriculum was when douglas adams was going there (the school is named in the wiki entry for him) this is a real possibility too because shoeberyness is ancient... neanderthals were there... so surely a school a scant 50 km away would study it!
and this would prove douglas slept in class hahaha

fluffykerfuffle Posted Feb 4, 2011
and douglas was 6 feet tall when he was twelve
it totally cracks me up imagining a 12 year old 6 foot douglas sprawled out there in the back row of class in his desk... totally zonked out whilst the professor drones on about some obscure boooooooring pastor from the 1600s...

ok thanks, I did read the thread, but your style of writing is something I'm not used to and I found it hard to follow, sorry.
I've got it now, and Shoeburyness is quite close to me, not 50km I promise you, not even 40. But I don't have time to go off talking to locals or investigating churches. If you have one church you want me to pop into give me the details and I can manage that, but not doing all the research.
BTW, the school Douglas went to is also named in the entry I wrote on Brentwood. But I don't fancy doing all the research on your behalf on that, either. Sorry. I've got my own entry in PR which is a bit neglected itself.

"btw shagbark thank you i looked and found one person cyzaki but they moved to london "
There are plenty of Researchers in Essex - 4 in my town itself, although I'm the only one currently active.

after i rewrite everything from that thread because you cant be bothered to go read it yourself... and i am very tired tonite...
you are so rude as to insult how i write
and insinuate that i am asking someone to do 'my research' for me
and also rude enuf to make sure i know i made a gaff by not looking up your brentwood entry to find out douglas' school...
well i am just flummoxed
dash and be gone wi ye

You are a very weird person.
I'm sorry you took my message like that, but well, you can't help some people.

And I DID read the thread, I just had no clue what you were bloody on about because you write so bloody stupidly, and I struggled with this one too! I didn't have to even bother to try to decipher your weird writing style you know.
