Gnomon - time to move on

No, you've got it wrong, Wolfden.

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the unofficial name for winter time in the UK.
BST (British Summer Time) is summer time, and is one hour ahead. BST is also called Daylight Saving Time.

In the United States and many other countries, they also put the clock one hour ahead in the summer and this is also called Daylight Saving Time.

Official time for the world is called UTC (Universal Time Corrected). You will often see local times listed as UTC + 7 or UTC - 5. UTC is the same as GMT, but UTC is the official name.

Dea.. - call me Mrs B!

Here in Portugal, we are in the same time zone as the UK and it's called WET or Western European Time as opposed to France, Germany etc which are on Central European Time(CET). A lot of the time when you see Britain on the TV here, they refer to it being on WET as well.

The joys of EU conformity!smiley - biggrin

Gnomon - time to move on

I wasn't telling you how to run your life. You asked for an explanation of GMT and BST in posting 2, so I answered you.

Would you like me ignore all questions you ask in future, W? Would you like us all to ignore all questions you ask?

Geggs

Well, that's a first. I don't think I've ever heard Gnomon decribed as bossy before. Friendly, helpful and intelligent, yes, but never bossy.

I don't know if you know this, lordWolfden, but you don't half sound like a petulant teenager at times.

ahhhhh right,

well as the first instigater, I believe, of reffering to you as 'Wolfie' on here I can only assure you that there was no malice or ill feeling behind it, the name just rolls a lot easier than Wolfden or LW or whatever. On my part I will try and not let it happen again.

Though my tuppence is sticks and stones and all that, and if you get reffered to as Wolfie, especially in a non confrontational way, dunnae bite, you could just try ignoring it and the the bad 'Wolfie' memories from startrek com will eventually be replaced by the good 'Wolfie' memories from H2G2. Would Wolfie with a Y, ie Wolfy, be acceptable?
