I'm glad you enjoyed reading "Safe Area Gorazde". I'm going to have to give that another go soon. I'm currently reading a surreal sort of noir-ish sci-fi called "Spaceman Blues" that I can gladly recommend.

There's this Indian author - Samit Basu - who wrote the Umbawa Trilogy - worth a read - wonderful tongue-in-cheek stuff, though you need have a smattering of the Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharatha bit to get some of the jokes.
I liked Stieg Larsson's first two books in his Trilogy...also John Twelve Hawks' Dark River series.
