I'm confused with Yahoo and Flickr. Are they the same thing or do you need to set up a separate account?

If you have a Yahoo account, you just have to sign in to Flickr with your Yahoo details to use it, if memory serves me right.

They're the same thing Opti. You need a yahoo e-mail/username to use flickr. If you have a BT Yahoo a/c then you get the 'Pro-version' of flickr with no extra charge. Otherwise you just get the basic flickr with a basic Yahoo a/c.

Yahoo used to host photo albums, then closed them and they were transferred to flickr.

E-Mail From Yahoo to me
--------------------------------------------

"Dear Yahoo! Photos user,

For some time now, we’ve supported two great photo-sharing services, Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. But even good things come to an end, and we’ve decided to close Yahoo! Photos to focus all our efforts on Flickr — the award-winning photo-sharing community that has been called "completely addictive."

We will officially close Yahoo! Photos on Thursday, October 18, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT.. Until then, we are offering you the opportunity to move to Flickr or download your original resolution photos back to your computer. All you need to do is give us your decision before we close, after which any photos remaining on Yahoo! Photos will be deleted and no longer accessible.

Please give us your decision by Thursday, October 18, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT. After that time, any photos remaining on Yahoo! Photos will be deleted. Click here to make your decision, or review a list of our frequently asked questions.

Thanks for being a part of the Web's largest photo-sharing service — we hope to see you over at Flickr!

The Yahoo! Photos team"

If you have an existing Yahoo a/c then just merge a/cs. It just means you use same yahoo id to access flickr.

Try logging into Flickr with your yahoo id AFTER signing out of Yahoo itself. See if it allows you into flickr. If it does then a/cs are already merged which means in theory, while you're logged into your Yahoo a/c, then you should be able to go straight into flickr without the need to login. It uses the same id.

I've noticed that the places with which I am connected ask for the yahoo and Flickr. If things change I guess I will too. smiley - magic

I'm not really here

" If you have a BT Yahoo a/c then you get the 'Pro-version' of flickr with no extra charge."

I don't think that's true - a yahoo member told me her photos had been transfrerred over, but half of them were hidden until and unless she paid a fee.

If it *is* true then I want my money back - I paid for the pro-version, but I apparently have a BT yahoo account (much as I DO NOT WANT ONE!). I signed up to BT and don't want all this shite yahoo webcrap stuff.
