Can anyone help me with a problem that has accured on my D Drive(CD/DVD writer)
It worked fine but suddenly it will not recongsed that there is a blank disk in the drive, as it keeps comming up insert a blank disk.
I can find no reason for this to be happening, Ive tried every blank disk i have and still says the same.
Has any one else ever had this problem?

This probably sounds like a stupid question, but i mean it in all seriousness.

Is the drive closing properly?

Is there any cable or somethin that is caught that means that it gets really close to losing, but it dosn't.

smiley - blush took me a while to relise once why i disk wasn't working (was tring to write one at the time) it was my microphone cable getting caught.

if its not that are pre written disks getting recognised?

What type of discs aren't getting recognised? Is it blank CDs, blank DVDs, Proper CDs, Proper DVDs or a combination of all of them?

Discs that arnt getting recognised are blank dvd/cds, pre recorded cds/dvds are recognised and play ok in my power dvd and nero player and windows media.

It's a new pc so no wires getting caught, one minute it was working fine, the next it wont recognise blank discs of any sort. I went into the driver properties and into the dvd/cd combie, and it' says it's working fine, but something is'nt right with it.

My next question is are you 100% sure that it's a CD burner/DVD Burner? It will actually say on the front of the drive door, or on the drive itself it it's a slot loader. What does it say?

Are you putting the blank disc in the right way up? Both sides look very much the same but only one side is used for recording.
