Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences

Pennies on a dead man's eyes is a different tradition that's got mixed up with ferryman's fare in the mouth. Pennies are placed on a corpse's eyes to stop the eyelids flipping up and making the eyes look open, which is icky for the family to see. So when a corpse is laid out, old fashioned (large) penny pieces are/were placed on the eyelids.

What exactly is "serious"? I mean, you're not proposing marriage are you? Or is he talking about non-exclusivity here?

Definitely not marriage!!! When i think of serious, i think of a long relationship, which i want, but he doesn't seem to. But i don't know if he means he just wants to be friends or he wants something else...smiley - whistle

The longest journey starts with one step...take it a day at a time is my advice...as I'm sure you're getting elsewhere (like the Nice Friendly Girls thread) and see what happens.

I'm changing my name for (allegedly) humorous purposes tonight. I'm counting on the fact that the smiley - evilgrin smiley is now so associated with me that people will recognise me anyway!

Disappointment?

Joined local gardening club and signed up for their trip to visit 'a famous garden'.
Spent 5 hours on the bus, 2 hours wandering around an irrelevant town and less than 2 hours at the 'famous garden'.
And - nobody spoke to me all day smiley - wah. The ones I tried to speak to wouldn't take me on.
Think a letter to their chairwoman may be in order. Apparently they've reached such low membership numbers that they're in danger of folding.
Not smiley - bleep surprising!

Never had a ticket to Gardener's Question Time in my life! And I AM a member of the RHS.

Gardening is one of the most popular pastimes in the UK - albeit generally not for younger people.
