We don't need to have them trimmed, but if someone shaves them off they grow back again.

Explanation?

Ah, the eternal eyebrow question...

Eyebrow hairs, much like eyelashes, only grow to a certain length. This is determined by (insert intelligent sounding force here) and means that, whilst they don't need trimming, they do indeed grow back.

Contemplate, if you will, arm and leg hairs. They don't grow to lengths of epic proportion like the hair on your head (should you have any) but also stop growing. Yet no amount of waxing or shaving will make them disappear forever.

The humble eyebrow hair lasts a little over (insert eyebrow life expectancy here), then falls out. Or is plucked. Ors haved. Or waxed. Or threaded...you get the idea...

There are exceptions however; the old man is a perfect example of eyebrow hairs gone mad. Look, if you will, at the governer of the prison in the Vinnie Jones re-make of Mean Machine. Eyebrow a go-go on that one.

Anyway, I'm sure there is a logical, and scientific, reason for the eyebrow hair's reluctance to grow or need to be trimmed, however, if you haven't gathered, I have no idea what this is.

Goodnight Seattle, thanks for listening.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Eyebrows are there, pressumbably to stop sweat from our forehead from entering our eyes, so they grow back should they befall a misshap, say, for example, accidentially having a friend in a science lab burn them off with a 'flame thrower' AKA bunson burner smiley - ermsmiley - weirdsmiley - bigeyes

Surely, so long as the root is intact, like grass, the hairs will sprout again?
Plucking gives a more permanent effect (speaking from experience) smiley - winkeye

I was thinking hairy thoughts this morning.......Why is it that we often notice hairs that have been shed from our heads - and possibly the 'short&curly' zone - but we never notice shed underarm hairs or leg hairs? Well I don't anyway. smiley - silly

And another thing....Unibrows - a good look or not?

Unibrow; Monobrow; and our survey said NO!

Personally, I prefer the subtle gracefulness of two brows. Although, I know some of my friends find one brow attractive. Think Liam/Noel Gallagher.

Weirdos...

What about 'highbrow'? People who look as though they are permanently surprised.

Nothing looks worse than no-brow. I'd wager that anyone can be made to look ugly by shaving off their eyebrows.

Highbrow? Oh, those mentalists who pluck all their eyebrow hairs apart from about six right along the top?

Personal opinion? Scary. Really scary!

Although, I have to disagree with the no-brow statement. Everyone perhaps except Keanu Reeves (who, btw, is one foxy bloke). That bit in The Matrix where he's first released from the fields? No eyebrows, and yet still strangely attractive...or am I just addicted? smiley - smiley

It's been said before, but what's going on when people pluck their eyebrows, only to draw ones back on again?

I have no idea...never understood it myself. I'm fond of the tweezers, and sometimes a little brow pencil does wonders to darken them, but as for removing completely then drawing back on?

A load of hassle for no good reason so far as I'm concerned!

Do you pluck?

I plucked to thin & shape mine when I was a teenager.

The remove & draw brigade often draw them in a different shape & position smiley - weird . Usually looks so obvious, but each to their own smiley - zen
