Meaningless survey of being either left- or right-eyed
Titania (gone for lunch) Started conversation Jul 3, 2002
Currently being bored out of my mind...
If you point at an object at some distance away from you with the index finger of your left or right hand, with both eyes open...
...and then close your left eye and look with only your right eye...
...and then close right eye and look only with your left eye...
...which eye came closest?
And is the eye that came closest corresponding to the hand you use mostly?
Would being right-handed mean that your right eye gives you a more accurate picture - or the other way around?
My result:
Right eye shows correct result
Hand:
I was born left-handed but taught to use right hand in school

I appear to be right eyed, and I'm right handed.

Right eye came closer.
And I'm right-handed.
cos I'm much more short-sighted in my right eye. Maybe I'd get a different result if I took my glasses off. Checks. No, same result.

I see two fingers with both eyes open and if I place the object half way between them and look with one eye at a time it's equidistant

I don't need to try this. I wear glasses and the left lens is about twice as strong as the right lens. Ie. My right eye has the more correct vision and if I'm squinting at something I naturally tend to close my left eye.
I am right handed

Hmmmm... *scratches head* I was hoping to be able to draw some kind of conclusion from this, but I think I need more material *hoping for more researchers to answer the survery*
Twinkle and Alji - are you left- or righthanded?

Right eyed & right handed - however I used to be ambidextrous (except I could only write in mirror writing with my left hand - I wrote backwards until I was 7 then switched hands)

Right Hand, Left Eye
If I took my glasses off I wouldn't be able to see the pointing finger let alone an object at some distance!
As a slight alteration to Titania's original question, which eye do you lift a camera to when taking a picture?
Again I'm left eyed.

I thought I was ambidextrous when I was about 7 or 8 - which meant I could write equally badly with either hand!

I'm left eyed and right handed.
My optician at the time I noticed my right eye was a bit shabby told me that The Pill can cause your eyesight to deteriorate. Any thoughts on that one?

Hmm, right handed, right eyed.
But then I've had a cornea transplant on my left eye, so technically it isn't mine. And whoever it came from could have been left eyed before I got it. So theefore I could be ambioccular (good word Whisky) and not know it? Especially as all i can see through that eye is a kinda fuzzy edged world without enough sharp edges to tell if stuff moves or not.
Ho hum
Oh yes, and i'm left legged and left thumbed. If thats of any use to you.

Just noticed this, but when in bed with by loved one and looking at her face close up I am left eyed. Odd
