H2G2 sapiens are recognisable on that where other human races use the opposable thumb for tool use, they use it to hitchhike around the galaxy.

I would have thought the true h2g2 sapien would be suffering extreme thumb bruising through excessive use of the spacebar.

OK...this could take a while, and I really don't fancy staying online for another three hours.
I'm off to make dinner. Somebody let me know how number 2M went.
If Mark Moxon makes it I won't be at all surprised.

Not in the slightest. We seem to be pushing about six posts a minute. With (about) a thousand left, that's 160 minutes (nearly three hours), isn't it?

Just to answer a question posed earlier - the post numbering is for the lifetime of h2g2, not just post-Rupert. But a large number of posts and conversations are still hidden pending moderation.

And don't forget - it might take you a while to find the 2,000,000th post if it's in a random conversation you're not watching at the time. When you do find it, here would be a good place to post a link to it, just so we know.

Still, you can't claim you're not vaguely excited about it, eh Jim?
