Oooh, thanks Linda, I'll try that, I'll send Grandad out onto the railway embankment to get me some . We got rid of all the ones in the garden. I wanted to keep some for washing my hair

My grandmother used to put nettle tops in salad, perhaps that's why I don't get hayfever.
Perhaps I had better slip some in H's

They are good at relieving symptoms, but they are not a cure I'm afraid.
The best ones to pick are the ones that haven't run to seed - should be ok this time of year - and take the tips. Nice and tender. Yum yum.
You can buy nettle tea in health food type shops if you want to avoid being stung, otherwise once nettles have been hanging around for a while and are dry they don't sting. <-- imagine nettle , not

another good tip i have found after years of suffering, dont touch your face, wash your hands a lot, dont ever put anything near your eyes except eye drops. if you have long hair keep it out of the way. often if your eyes are just irritated and you can manage to leave them be then they dont get vastly worse unless the pollen count is particularly bad(in which case there is nothing you can do other than shoot yourself as a distraction). rubbing your eyes allows a huge increase in the poibility of small scratches and pushed the pollen further in. although it doesnt work for me one of my firends finds wearing heavy eye make up works becauce then she CANT rub her eyes.
best tip, avoid cowparsley and rape seed. EVIL

rape seed Rain's forecast for this week end
Linda, 's funny you should mention nettle , when I was very young, my nain & taid were the only ones in our family who didn't get hay fever, and they were the only ones who could drink Nain's nettle wine She made it too sweet, added raisins.
off to sterilise a demi-john
