Reasons why I hate 'strictly'.
Pink Paisley Posted Dec 14, 2013
Actually, I'm a fan of Strictly. However, I also hate the idiotic audience clapping along idiotically to anything with a beat. One of the problems is that where you have a couple of hundred people trying to hit the beat together, there are plenty of them who miss it.
The theme tune at the beginning featured clapping AFTER the beat (today at least - is it different each week?) and a couple of weeks ago, the tune (can't remember which tune or dance) demanded the emphasis on the OFF BEAT. But the audience didn't seem to grasp that. At least they don't try clapping during the waltzes - that would be chaos.
And then there is Brucie. He was just right at the beginning, but even he knows that the writing is on the wall and acknowledges it too. He has been a remarkable entertainer for many years. It would be a shame to remember him as a bumbling old man who misses his cues, explains his jokes, forgets his lines and can't read the auto-cue.
PP.
