I caught the first episode of that but didn't continue watching. I have heard it's a bit of a rare treat for channel 4 viewers, well, that and Peep Show.

Reality tv just seems to be a cheap option for tv companies- exploit members of the public for entertainments sake (or rather, allow themselves to be exploited), get millions to watch, get revenue from advertising and spin-offs, all for a minimum outlay. I would imagine the biggest expense for shows like the X-Factor is Simon Cowells wage bill- or an interpretor for the other 3!

I think that's why I dont mind a bit of (synthetic) reality TV. It gives me a chance to really indulge my judgemental side. Same as heavy metal lets me express my aggressive side. It allows me to be calmer and kinder person in real life.

To me, it equates with paying to laugh at clowns falling over. Except that these clowns aren't trained.

And I dont accept that they are being exploited in the same way I used to argue six or seven years ago. Nowadays people have been watching and experiencing these programmes for long enough to know what they are getting into. To take any of it seriously is to fall under it's spell in some sense.

I dont watch I'm a twit let me fade into obscurity. It bores me.
