Well the teddy bear stuffing shop I know is open on Sundays.

So it was all part of the discussion! I was talking to one of our "senior citizen students" yesterday and he was totally against shops opening Sundays, he said it would put too much pressure on small shop owners who couldn't afford it, and encourage people to spend money they couldn't spare...

Well everyone has different values it is all very interesting.

That's why I like the idea of letting retirees attend Uni as guest heareers, their perspective enriches the conversation!

Agreed in this town some shop keepers observe half day closing on Wednesdays.

Here too, especially in smaller towns. And the library is closed Wednesday and Sunday, even though Wupp is big

I think traditionally Wendnesday was for funerals

Interesting, was that just in the UK or in all of Europe?

Could be. But why Wednesday? Maybe because it's halfway to Sunday, and that gives you two opportunities for funerals per week, which is more hygenic... Bit of a depressing subject, really.

Makes sense, historically, though. Sometimes our ancestors were capable of being quite practical!

Sunday opening is fine by me.

Great idea took advantage of it today.

At least I found one shop that's open til 20:00 Saturdays, so I did manage to go shopping... There's a small supermarket in the main train station that's open every day, but the prices are horridly overinflated!
