Interesting... if I'm interested in something someone's said, I always go to their PS (generally I middle-click on their name, so their PS appears in a new browser-tab) to find out more about them...

My middle button don't do that,
it lets me scroll up and down, and as its a roller, I just turn the roller without moving the mouse
I press the "shift" button at the same time I click o something to open another page

My middle button is my best friend.
1. When I need to scroll up and down, I can just wiggle it anywhere in the window I want to scroll, and it'll scroll. (Same as you, manda)
2. When I want to scroll left and right, I can just put the pointer over the left-right scrollbar and wiggle.
3. If I want to open a page in a new Tab (I don't think Internet Explorer supports Tabbed Browsing yet - silly old thing) I can just click on it with the middle button rather than the left.
4. Best use for a middle button comes only for those of us who use X-Servers (no rest for the wicked Windoze users): when I want to copy and paste text from one program into another (or even from the same one) - say for example copying a URL into an h2g2 conversation - I can just highlight the text with the left mouse button, move the pointer to where I want to paste and click with the middle button. None of that Ctrl-C Ctrl-V malarkey for me! (I'm told that Mid-Click-Trick works in the Trillian chat client for Windoze, but not in most Windoze applications).

Coo. You didn't know about Mid-Click-Trick? That's one of the first things that made me realise that the limitations of Windoze are not the limit with home computing.

While I support Linux and dislike windows, I feel a need to give a piece of advice to any windows users. If you rightclick on a link, a menue comes up and you can click on open in new window. THat makes the link open in a new window, just like the described centerbutton.

Yeah, or Shift-LeftClick, as manda suggested. That opens the link in a new _window_, though. Internet Explorer doesn't support tabs at all.

Addendum: I'm not specifically talking about linux! Mozilla is available for windoze and works well on Nitina's machine. http://www.mozilla.org/

You normally get a lot of free time with uni though. I get twice a week off at the moment and sometimes tuesdays off as well
But unfortunately I will be finishing this year and so is Owl (except Owl is happy about it) but if I could, I would stay longer...hmmm but anyway i'll have another *full-time* job when I finish and that's our preparations for our upcoming wedding and never realised how much needs to be done
