The subject of wire. This little thought came to me one particular evening at home while dealing with the jumble of wires protruding from my computer, t.V., stereo and other electronic equipment. Having just read the first installment of the Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy, and thinking very much like a field researcher for the fantastic book, an entry began to evolve in my mind on the subject of wire. And it went something along these lines:
If wire were to have a purpose in life, it would be simple and concise, and it's reason for existence would be summed up in one handy little phrase. "To Be Tangled." Simple as that. Dealing with wire is not at all something you should do with high hopes. You can separate, label, and tidy all you want, but in the end you'll be left with a tangled mess of plastic covered copper. Do yourself a favour and hope for a wireless future.

Strange to think that years ago when everybody trashed their Wirelesses (Wirelessi- Oh! hell I don't know the plural for Wireless)and bought cool and froody transistor radios that they didn't take into account the sheer burden that the technological advance would actually cause to their habitats. Now with all the hifi's, midi systems, PC's, Stereo TV's milling about my house looks like it's become a writhing snakepit.

You're supposed to plug them in, then they can't mill about. The mains lead is actually a tether to protect you from the unsettling experience of meeting your TV with a fridge snack half way up the stairs in the middle of the night.

Yes...wire DOES need to be contained and controlled.
Look at what happens to wire coathangers when left alone in a group in a dark closet [shudder]
