Would a pint of Stella this Friday be enough for a couple of extra points??

I'm about to slip out of the top 20 in one of the charts what favour can I perfirm to remain in the action on number of correct picks.

I can only award bonus points, I can't rig the chart so you've picked the right numbers, I'm afraid...

Ku'Reshtin (Bring the beat back!) Posted Nov 21, 2003
Well, you could remove the people that haven't been playing for about 6 months. I can see at least three or four people that picked one or two rounds a loong time ago and then never came back.

But we have lots of new players coming in, who will probably do exactly the same thing. I'll see what I can do...

Okay, I didn't want to name names, but here's what I figured...
Zagreb and IanG has played twice, and neither have played recently.
BaldBloke and Frankie Roberto has each played twice, and the last of them to pick anything was BaldBloke, about two months ago or so.
Egon and Abi have each picked three times, and as far as I can tell, neither have picked anything recently.
That's six players that could be removed from the boards, and I doubt that any of them will make an issue of it.
There are 12 people on the Top20 list that have picked less than 10 times (including the new people) and I think that you could probably remove 8 of them without much protest. Then there are the ones who played for a while but haven't been here for ages as well, but that's another issue.

Only thing is, if I start taking people out, then the chart is no longer an accurate reflection of past performance. It would be like taking "Bohemian Rhapsody" out of the list of all-time best selling singles because it hasn't been in the chart for over ten years.

Demon Drawer Posted Nov 21, 2003
Well at least keep a full chart listing somewhere so we can see it. Or show the people who played that's weeks positions.

Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Posted Nov 21, 2003
This is more complicated that I thought.
With the total points and total correct picks, obviously those who only play once are going to fall off the bottom of the table as regular players score more and more points. I introduced the average tables so that it wouldn't take months for new players to climb into the top 20. But, of course, if someone plays spectacularly well once and never plays again, it disadvantages the regular players.
What does the panel think?
