We have a few things to announce
First,
There is a new Yahoo Group set up to help with the problem of Yikesing
As you may know the Yikes (complaints) button does not work with a Digibox,
So a group of volunteers have joined the Yahoo group to Yikes any post for you
If you go HERE >> A1108018 it will tell you about it,
Next,
The Writing Competition has started up again,
It is open to all on H2G2,
If you go HERE >> A830035 it will tell you all about it
You can write about anything you like, but you might want to write about Essex, whether it is something you have done there or something you know about it, because!!!
Finally,
We have started a new Researcher group
It is the H2G2 Essex Researchers Group
To join is easy,
If you live there or close by, or if you know some that lives there,
Or even if you are just interested in Essex you can join
It is not quite ready yet, but I thought I would tell you about it while I was here
If you go HERE >> A1099794 you will get more info on it

manda...
the yikesing page is definitely needed... we know from experience how reporting publicly an offensive posting can be risky...
everyone: regarding the Essex Group...
as the fact that a project is not quite ready yet has never stopped us to contribute to it before, the H2G2 Essex Researchers Group _already_ has quite a few interesting conversations going on... which is great as that makes it a very promising project already..
a few bits and bobs need to be added but, as long as you wear an hard hat, feel free to contribute...
the writing competition... yep... it is great and fun... i have written a few entries on here which might never have been created if it had not been for the writing competition..
so yep... definitely worth a try... and it's a friendly competition as well so no worries...

I have a question:
If, as stated elsewhere, even manda's short A1108018 page requires 5 digibox pages to view, then why are most LDers pages so long?!

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 14, 2003
pass on that one...
apart from the fact that some of us like putting a lot of info on our pages/spaces i suppose, there is no explanation...
obviously those who can get some PC access time do tend to make the most of it and add and add and add as many links/piccies/etc as possible...

hi jinty...
i think SEF meant the number of times we press on the "page down" key...
for example, just to go to the bottom of my intro it takes over 20 "pages" [pressed the "page down key more than 20 times]...
and that's without counting the extra pressing needed for scrolling down from the latest journal entry to the convos on my space...
keep me fit tho' all this ning down my space...

hi manda....
i must admit if i had restricted myself to the limitation of the digibox for my personal space i would feel very disappointed/unhappy with it... especially after having seen it through a PC...

Yes, I've seen jinty's page grow and grow.
It also shows that memory for pictures isn't much of a problem for digiboxes.

it does show our appreciation of the site and its facilities in a way... we are like " i want to put that... and i want to add that... etc.. etc..." especially once we've managed to [relatively] master guideML... hehe... then, if we get some PC access time the sky is [almost] the limit...
darn great site H2G2....
