Where is everything? I think I need a Re-ACEing!
Terran Started conversation Aug 16, 2006
Hello everyone who happens to get these messages...
Basically I have a problem. I don't have a clue where anything is on h2g2 anymore. Frankly it takes a lot of effort to get anything useful from the h2g2 search engine, she's a delicate thing and doesn't like to be used too often. So trying to find anything useful, is well a bit of a pain...
Also I'm out of any sort of loop that I might have once have been, so I don't know anything other than the occasional message from announcements telling me that I won't be able to use the site, which I know so little about these days.
So I have a number of questions for the wise people out there who are left from my days of greater activity :
1) Does anyone know whether there are any active Discworld groups? It was the thing that I was searching for that prompted this.
2) Which are the biggest active groups going?
3) Who are the hoopiest froods around at the moment?
4) Is there anyone out there other than me that knows what a hoopy frood is (or well know what its supposed to mean)?
5) Are there any Role Playing games still going?
6) Does anyone remember the Terranic Army anymore, or is it just a vague thing that happened once to other people?
7) And does everyone just mope around posting things in their journals all the time (a little bit like me, except without the all the time bit ).
8) Maybe I could have a re-ACEing. Actually... do the ACE's still exist any more? Which groups actually still exist? Is the UnderGuide still going...? And so on...
So as you can see I'm completely out of the loop I have no idea whats going on... actually that would be a good idea for a newspaper... anyway, does anyone have any idea about these things I'm asking about, or am I just spouting jibberish (ver. 5.0)?

1) Not that I'm aware of
2) Much to the disgust of the Italics it seems to be general chat places, talking heads and the h2g2 book club
3) Don't know
4) A really amazingly together guy
5) The SGC has sporadic moments
6) I do but the regulars like me, you, Kitty and Ralph are sporadic posters now
7) I haven't written a journal for ages, I spend most of my time chatting to friends it their journals or in the chill out room of the book club
8) Yes the ACEs are still around as are most of the groups, not sure about the artists or the UG to be honest

Good day to you good people
I actually have no idea what the itallics are up to these days, I used to see and speak to them all the time!

I think h2g2 is an artform. Ignore it and it and playfully hang around and it'll start taking interest, put all your effort in to it to try and actually do something and you get nothing... I think Douglas Adams would have had a word for that

I've certainly got a (probably misleading) impression that there's less going on around the site, with the exception of the DW group (and even that's calmed down a bit now the show's gone off-air again).
Then again most of my convos came via the Post, one way or another, and the switch to bi-weekly seems to have had a disproportionate impact on the Post readership. Seemed like a good idea at the time...

I suspect there are pockets of conversations everywhere... they just need to be brought together... thats what the community team used to be for...

1) Sodomy non sapiens.
2) People are active?
3) That would be me. When I'm on.
4)
5) Yup, every wednesday, at a mate's flat. Oh, on hootoo? See 1)
6) Vague, yep...but I think I was one of the people it happened too...
7) I'm not moping, I'm lurking. Oh, yeah, journal...haven't posted for about a year...
8) Probably, but from what I remember, all those years ago, ACEing just showed you the pages you never use anyway.

I used to be really active with the Thingites, but I'm a bit too busy with other stuff to visit regularly. I'll take a look, though.
