A Conversation for Talking Point: Things you were told when young
What Do Kids Tell Each Other?
JumpinJane Started conversation Jan 8, 2004
I was shocked over Xmas to find out that 2 of my younger friends (in their 20's) didn't find out there's no Father Christmas until around age 11 or 12.
I found out from friends much earlier. Kids in my day (I'm 36) made sure that their peers knew the truth. Those that clung to the notion until they were 9 were teased something rotten.
A friend had to tell her daughter who's started grammar school, and therefore supposedly intelligent, the truth this year to avoid her being teased. The girl asked if Father Christmas doesn't bring the presents then where do they come from. Incredible!
Don't kids talk to one another anymore? I learnt about sex from my friends too. God knows where 11 year olds think babies come from!!
