Cat's eyes and carrots

The reflective cat's eyes on the roads were there to wake up the driver when they fell asleep at the wheel.

If you eat your carrots, you can see in the dark.

If you're on about the carrots, they don't help you see in the dark, but they do contain something that you need for healthy eyes.

In a way almost exactly true. Vitamin D and carotene do help your eyesight and most 'cat's eyes' rumble your tires if you roll over them in a daze!

Talking about carrots...hundreds of years ago they weren't actually orange - in fact they were anything but! You could have purple, yellow and even black carrots. Orange carrots were not available until tthe 17th century when a Dutch farmer found out a way to produce them in the orange colour that we now know and love.
