I've got a certain amount of money to go on holiday with but having only ever travelled abroad alone I don't know much about packaages, deals or good places to go.We've had some rough times and I think we all deserve a treat. Does anybody have some good recomendations of places? That question is for number everybody.

I am not sure of good places to go to. I just beg, please don't go to anything Disney. Please, please, please. I will cry lots and lots if you go to Disney. I know that kids are often really keen to go, but please, I beg of you, don't do it. Please. I suspect that they might be an evil multinational.
I am considering being a human shield in Iraq. It would satisfy my need for a holiday whilst being of benefit to society and having a political slant. Could life be any more rewarding for me?
What about looking at the chaep flight offers doing the rounds from the ryanairs of this world. I have also had joy using the travel section of the Telegraph (Saturday) and Guardian in the past, picking up flights to Toronto at this time of year for £100. Some friends went to Italy for £14 (return) on one of the budgets recently. I hope you get to have a holiday. I am generally speaking quite pro-holiday. I really need one. Desperately. I think I am starting to crack up from needing a break so badly.
What about taking the kids to Amsterdam. interesting museums, art galleries, clogs, tulips etc etc. You haven't mentioned if their interestes include touring red-light districts and smoking (illegal but tolerated!) druggage. Maybe not such a hot idea.
Keep us posted on how you are getting on!
Peace to the world (February 15 - Embankment - be there)

You lucky sausage! I saw Easyjet are doing all kinds of sub-£25 flights these days to nice (if a little phallic) places. I have had a fit of excitability and am seriously considering going on holiday to Norwich for 3 days instead of the more exotic places I had been considering (not Saxmundham, Yeovilton or Newton Abbot you twot!). There is good reason for this, though. The rather excellent Dedbeat Weekender festival thingy is going on, and would make Pontins tolerable.

The only thing that made pontins tolerable was throwing burning mattresses off the balconies when I worked there but each to his own.
