h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hurrah! Great to find another person who likes all the great punk bands inc Siouxsie and the Banshees (loads of people haven't heard of them where I come from. Shocking.) Guessing you were around to witness some of it. Sadly I missed my 2 fav music decades by miles - love 60s and 70s but born '83 and didn't discover music til mid 90s and only found Real music a couple of years ago. Half of the people I like are dead now. it's quite depressing. Feel free to drop over to my site whenever.

Well I'm the "wrong" side of 30 so I was around for maybe the latter part of the "real" punk era....I'm probs what u'd call 2nd generation punk...but I loved it and still do

Siouxsie was a Godess , nice to see the "older" punk stuff hasn't been deserted for some of the newer (and I'm not saying they're no good), but "poppier" punk music

Yeah, I get confused by what is called 3rd wave punk, and that's what most of my generation is meant to listen to. The fact that people usually leave off the 3rd wave part has led to a few disappointments at local gigs I turn up in slashed denim, safety pins, doc martens and fishnets expecting something like the Clash or the Buzzcocks or the Sex Pistols only to be confronted by a load of sulky looking greebo types in mostly black and baggy jeans listening to music which is almost, but not quite entirely unlike punk as I know it. I am slowly being rehabilitated by friends who have started me out on 3rd wave ska eg Reel Big Fish, Spunge and Less than Jake who are all very good.

H2G2 is great. I've never had so much fun on the internet.
