Does anybody remember the song 'John Kettley is a Weather Man' By the Tribe of Tofs? This was a real one hit wonder and it was an awful record.

I remember. Oh blimey, do I remember.
Even more worryingly, I remember the follow-up single, "Terry Wogan's On TV (Again)". My, how we failed to laugh.

As I remember, it just scratched the Top 40, and all because Andy Crane kept plugging it, presumably because it had the line 'Andy Crane has got no brain'.
As for a single that charted around no. 37 -- are they not half-a-hit wonders?

I think it actually got to number 5 or something.

"Ayrton Senna has the voice of a tenor, Peter Snow sings very low"
I loved it.

It was Simon Parkin who plugged it lots.
He had this plastic goldfish in a tub called 'Gums' [a take on Jaws] and, as there was a fish in the video, he took every oppourtunity to show the clip of the video, saying it was Gums' starring role. And he was Andy Crane's successor in the broom cupboard, so probably thought the Andy Crane bit funny.

It also included the classic lines:
Simon Parkin's always larkin' (this is why Simon Parkin liked it so much)
My favourite line was:
Jonathan Ross Collects Moss
