It's been a couple weeks since I've posted anything to my journal. The good news is that's partly because nothing newsworthy has happened, though it's also in part a result of my being quite busy at work (which is a drag inasmuch as it cuts into my hootooing time, but it keeps me busy and I won't complain about having work to do when so many can't find a job).
At the moment, it's frickin' freezing here. -15°F (-28°C) when I arrived at the office this morning, and it hasn't risen much. I'd planned a couple of outings this weekend- like brunch at the veggie diner and free passes to see a friend of a friend do a stand-up comedy routine- but I may want to hibernate indoors this weekend, if it's going to be so bitterly cold. K's going to deejay tomorrow night for the Club Foot's 14th anniversary. 12 deejays in 5 hours means a short set, so I'm not sure whether I'll tag along or just stay home; it'd take longer to get ready to go than I'd actually be out.
Earlier this week, I got K a PS2 so he can play God of War. A co-worker loaned us about a dozen different games, and we've had some fun playing, though I realize now that I have the hand-eye coordination of a root vegetable. I've also got another co-worker teaching me to knit, and I've more or less got the hang of making a slipknot, casting on, and casting off. I'm not sure what the stitch I've learned is called, but I've got several rows done and only a couple of dropped stitches. Maybe the two activities combined will help to improve my coordination a bit?
Monday's a federal holiday here (MLK, Jr day) so I have a three-day weekend. Please keep fingers crossed that a third co-worker who's proving to be rather unreliable shows up today... otherwise I'll have to cover for her and that will mean I take work home over the weekend, again. That would be very irritating.
What's everyone else up to?

what I'm up to is telling you not to take work home. Especially if it's other people's.
*stern look*

I ought to do the shopping.
I ought to work on my final project, which is due in two weeks.
Instead, I'm experimenting with new shading techniques for "Anarchy Gordon".

Yes, Sho. I'll leave it for the absentee to handle when she gets back, otherwise her supervisor can do it. Especially as this is the second time inside of a month she's called off the day before a holiday/long weekend.

I ought to finish the plastering in the front room.
I ought to go to the stove shop and buy one
I ought to go get the stuff I need for the bathroom refurbishment.
I ought to start preparing for this years psychology module
I'll prob catch up on sleep, read a bit and generally chill out.
Ah well, sure I'll manage one of the 4!

Bel, you're also up to trouncing me at Lexulous again!!
Mala, I hope your final project goes well. I was sorry to read that the person with whom you'd hoped to discuss it was less than cooperative.
But "Anarchy Gordon" sounds fun.

Good call.
Speaking of calls, I'm currently bogged down answering the telephone to help a small army of people who want to see the new 3D horror film My Bloody Valentine. I'll be doing this until ten o'clock tonight and then I'm going to stop being part of the solution and become part of the problem.
Late night 3D gore fest

Ictoan, I would wind up procrastinating and not accomplishing all of those things. I don't know why I'm such a procrastinator these days.
I really ought to vacuum and wash my floors. Maybe I'll do that Monday.

We saw the original My Bloody Valentine at the neighborhood indie theater last Valentine's (the same theater I rented out for K's birthday). Let me know if the remake is anywhere near as, erm, enjoyable. Good is definitely not the word for the original, though it is entertaining as hell. I actually own it on video.

Dark now, so priorities have shifted to finding something to make for dinner out of what's in the house
I owe Skankyrich a new AG by Sunday (or you, Bel?) so I figure I'm not procrastinating, I'm working ahead.

Rich is in charge of the cartoons, but then you're doing them for surely, rather for an individual editor?

"I really ought to vacuum and wash my floors."
OK, make that 6 things I need to do...
Saw the ads for the 3d film thingy. I wonder how many emo's will get a bit of a shock?

Wash floors? Wozzat?
Ah, yes, of course I'm doing them for the post, and not because you slavedrivers get on my case otherwise

Me and the male half of the Lair Cats are currently procrastinating. We're watching SGA (but no since there's no Ronon Dex to be seen yet ) and surfing the web.
I really could do with some more , but leaving my warm bed for the kitchen is not tempting. It's been fr*king cold here lately (-20C this morning when I went to w*rk) an unfortunately that also means a cold Lair

Sorry the lair is so cold! Thank goodness it's not cold at Chez PC. I don't crank the heat too much, so in addition to flannel pajama bottoms and t-shirt I wear cozy socks and a fleece pullover or a sweater, but it's not too cold to be up and about.
Hope it warms up for you soon, Dragonqueen.
I'm leaving work in about a half hour and will spend the evening playing some silly PS2 games while K is at band practice. (He loves the new kick pedal- says it's so fast it gave him leg cramps ).
The trip home will be better than the trip here- it's warmed up to 4°F (-15.5°C).
Key: Complain about this post
