Taking off the kid gloves once and for all
psychocandy-moderation team leader Started conversation Dec 22, 2004
Two and a half years ago, I discovered h2g2 upon completion of “the Salmon of Doubt”. I found it to be a fascinating resource for all kinds of information, and also discovered a world of people with whom I could engage in interesting discourse and debate.
Several months after that, I made an error in judgment, and joined a forum purported to exist as a support group for victims of abuse and/or trauma. In spite of the numerous problems that ensued as a result of my joining that group, I did have the good fortune to befriend any number of people who have turned out to be kind, loving, empathetic folk and true friends indeed.
The past several months here have been intermittently uncomfortable and awkward. About a year and a half ago, I offered to help a British friend obtain an entry visa to the US by the usual method- a sham marriage. When it became clear that this person was no friend at all, merely intent on finding a meal ticket and a free ride somewhere else once he’s exhausted all of his benefactors back home, I withdrew my offer, and found myself subjected to some of the worst backlash and personal attacks I have ever experienced.
Recently, I’ve been put in a position, by other friends, where I am expected to pick and choose between my friends. I can’t do this- I never have been the sort of person to do so, and don't think it's fair to me or to anyone else to be asked to do so.
I just don’t have the time or energy to deal with this anymore. After months and months, I’ve rekindled conversation with people who had been out of touch for a while, I’ve had time to cope with looking for a new job and getting settled happily, for once, into a happy and healthy relationship with someone who genuinely loves me, and have even made some new acquaintances here recently with whom I can engage in endless enjoyable discourse and/or debate.
I realize that my journal entries of the last few months may not have been all that interesting to many of you, so I understand that some people may have grown bored with talking to me anyway, and I can respect that.
But if I’m going to have to pick and choose between those to whom I can speak and those to whom I cannot, if I have to censor every posting for fear of hurting or offending someone, of being attacked, or of losing more friends, then why post? If I have to sit back and watch people I like, respect, and/or care for acting hostile toward others I like, respect and/or care for as well on a daily basis, why bother coming around at all?
I’m going to be away through the holiday and the weekend, and I’ll give h2g2 a rest till I get back. I’ll see then if I feel like I can continue on here or if I need to seek individual contact information for those of you I don’t already have.

Kaz, you've not been an idiot.
I didn't get to see Richenda's response, but it probably doesn't matter. Thanks for yikesing it, JEllen.
I have gotten over the hurt feelings I had yesterday (it was my last day at work and an overly emoitional day for me; I over-reacted again), hope that Kaz and I can continue as the friends we have been, as best I can do from long distance and with less free time than before. I cherish all of my friends here and don't want to lose any of them.
So, I'll be down in the 'burbs visiting K's family tomorrow and Saturday, and by my gram's on Sunday, but I expect to be back Monday sometime, right as rain and ready to resume my endless rambles.

Hi PCandy! *waves* Happy Holiday!
We had a very daunting Christmas here in Memphis because it sleeted yesterday, and the roads are iced over.
My grandnephew was born last Friday. He is so tiny, I saw him for the first time tonight.

PC, Sorry to hear you've been having a good time. I'm still here if you want to chat. I always read and enjoy your "endless rambles" but rarely get time to reply. Doing overtime tonight so have time.
JEllen, Grand nephew sounds great. How lucky you are
Merry Christmas one and all

JEllen,
I have stayed out of the matter. Check ALL the threads and you will see I have NEVER taken sides.
Have you ever met [Personal details removed by Moderator]? I have and at one point I considered her a friend. She took advantage of the situation. She has items that belong to me and I want them back.
Her life is hers to ruin however she sees fit. Unfortunely, while ruining hers, she manages to impinge on others.
Much of what is posted here, truly belongs in a private forum.
Any of you who are still in touch with [Personal details removed by Moderator], tell her I WANT MY STUFF BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She'll be back in a few days Richenda, calm down. Tantrums don't help. Whilst you are on though could you please remove Kaz from your friends list. I (Kaz version 2) am not one of your friends and would prefer it if you did the decent thing. I have no interest in you, so why do you have so much interest in me?

I see that my contribution as Kaz was moderated as well, I think that just proves the point doesn't it!!

Sorrel, there's a time when it's not even worth dignifying things with a reply. Don't waste your time.
As for returning things, they've been packed up and set aside, along with some unwanted junk from you-know-who, since I mentioned you could pick them up if you liked. I will ship them as soon as I can.
I'm actually surprised I'd get such nastiness from someone I thought had better things to do and who has no concern or interest.

I hope you had a nice weekend, too, dear. And all of my other friends as well. I'll unsubscribe from this now, for the obvious reason, but will talk to you all elsewhere.

Sorrel,
Had you read what JEllen wanted pinged, you would realize I am not having a temper tantrum. PC started this thread by making a derogotary statement which she sees as fact. I simply offered to send her copies of the IM conversations we had where she said something completely different. Based on my training in psychology and with personal knowledge of PC's behavior, I suggested that she seek counseling for her problems. JEllen saw this as an attacked and had it moderated. JEllen then attacked me.
I couldn't care less what goes on out here. I gave up on H2 almost a year ago. This group turned from support to a 'girl's locker room' and I moved on.
I simply want stuff that I LOANED out over 2 years ago returned. I have been more than patient.
They were loaned to someone whom I THOUGHT was a friend. I was wrong. She simply used me the exact same way she accused my friend of using her. Isn't it amazing?
I am happy that they are finally ready to be shipped. Had she returned any of my phone calls, it would have never escalated out here.
As far as having Kaz on my friends list, I have no intention of removing her or anyone else.
Now I'm sorry you feel this is having a temper tantrum. But *I* feel most of the people out here need to grow up and have a life.
Nice chatting with you.

I am Kaz. Why do you want to keep me on your friends list, we are not friends. Is it just that you want to lurk at what people are doing? If you say you left a year ago then please leave, and stop perving over all those 'friends' you are pretending to have, cause we are not your friends.
